One thing that Denali has that other places don't have is you pick an area and get a permit and you can go any where in that area because there ar no trails. Were we were droped of the ground was spungy, wet, and was reallyhard to walk through so we mostly walked on the river bed were the ground was all rocks. We had to cross lots of streems to stay on the river bed so our feet were allways wet.
While we were in Denali it rained the first night and second night so it was extra buggy and wet. One of the rules is you can't make fires because moving rocks are sopposed to impact the wildernes that is way different from other places. Also it was never dark out so thats realy diffrent but we also saw Mt. McKinley!
Hey--that picture is almost ALL smiles. Love it. Hiking with no trails sounds really difficult--the stream-bed approach was a great idea. Sorry about the wet feet. And sleeping when the sun is still up must be a challenge. I remember sleeping on the ground as being the nadir [worst part] of my backpacking life. Really grim! : (( love, bippy
