To get to the building site, we had to walk to a school and then we had to go into the forest and find where the best place to make a shelter would be. My grouped were going to make a room like shelter that would fit all of us in it. I was pretty excited about making the shelter and I wanted to get it done really quickly. We had 45 minutes to make it. In that time, we had almost completed it. But there were some windows that weren't supposed to be there. We didn’t get first place, because it wasn’t wind proof. We got to go up second for food at lunch because my team worked well together. For lunch we had spaghetti on toast. I didn't know, it was so good! But you have to try something new every day.
After lunch, we went on a really long hike to a water fall. The trail head was about a 15 minute walk form the lodge and from the trail head, the waterfall was another 30 minutes. We had to take a lot of breaks because people got tired. I didn’t really need to rest, so it took all my self-restraint not to go ahead of the group. But when we got to the waterfall, there was a lot of picture taking, talking, and eating. We all had a great time eating our cookies and talking right underneath the water fall. Once everyone had their fill of looking at the waterfall, we walked back to the lodge to have dinner. For dinner we had lamb chops. I have never had them before, so this was going to be a new thing for me. It turned out, they were pretty good after a good day of exercise. But after dinner I was pretty happy that I didn’t have to do dishes. I played games with my friends and looked at pictures from our day, instead. Then at 10:00 pm everyone got ready for bed and went to their bunk rooms. We stayed up really late talking and the teachers had to come to tell us to go to bed. Eventually, we did. I was really tired and I was happy to get a good night’s sleep. I had a really good 2 day at Camp and I was looking forward for tomorrow.

Hey Zander--is that snow in the picture?? It can't be. It would be pretty miserable camping if it were. Loved the concept that you had teams that actually built structures--and I'm sure you loved doing it. Sounds like a very nice trip.
ReplyDeleteWill you be able to keep up with any of your new friends once school is finished? On weekends or something?
Had a great evening trying to keep up with Everett who has now learned to ride a little bike and wants me to RUN and keep up with him as we go around the block. Duncan goes on roller blades, so Everett thinks I should be just as fast. Not likely.
Love to you, Sweetheart. bippy
That photo is amazing! Did you take that? I think your shelter should have won...was the contest rigged? You've been building things since you were a baby...before you could even talk! Oh well, better luck next time. And I guess the important thing is that you worked well as a team.
