Cooking... Yum Yum - by Zander

On Tuesday at school, we went to a cooking class.  To get the school, we had to get on a bus for 10 minutes because our school doesn’t have a kitchen. On the way, we got to talk to each other. I sat with JT, JW, and Junior. We talked about the soccer tournament that was going to happen next week. Everyone was really happy about the cooking lesson because we were going to cook hamburgers.
When we got to the school with a kitchen, the teacher was sitting outside. So we went in and washed our hands, got our aprons on, and got our stools and sat at that front of the class room. Then the teacher came in and explained the recipe to us. The first thing that we did was make the patties. To do it, we had to get ground beef, beans, some oil, and salt and pepper.  Then we mixed it all up. Then we put it in the oven and choose what we were going to put on the hamburgers.  I put tomatoes lettuce and pickles on a plate so they were ready to put on the hamburger. It was a pretty easy recipe and I had a fun time making it.

I was pretty happy because at the end of the class we get to eat the hamburger. We waited for a little while and then we got out our hamburger patty out of the oven and assembled our hamburgers and put it in our bags. Then there was a big hassle to wash the dishes and clean our table. Then we went outside to eat our hamburger and wait for the bus to take us back to school. My hamburger was really good and it was still warm.  I had a really pleasurable time at cooking class.

Below a couple of random Photos:  one from soccer tryouts, the other a view of a sand painting from New Brighton Pier.

  1. Amazing pictures, Z! Especially loved the sand drawing! How do they do that? And liked your growl next to your Dad's smile--... or was that just sun in your eyes?? [right!]]

Beans in hamburgers??? Never thought of that, but if you say it's good, I will. Or should I wait for you to come home and do some cooking for us.
    : ))
    much love, bippy

  2. You read my mind! I was in the pool doing some laps yesterday thinking of blog topics I'd like to hear from you, and food was at the top of my list. Probably because food is at the top of many of my lists! Great writing Zander. I bet the beef in NZ is super delicious, am I right? But, you've got to bring some Asian Fusion over to those Kiwis! Keep the food blogs coming!

  3. Zander,
I didn't know they eat hamburger! I thought it was American thing. Thank you for educating me. Too bad your school doesn't have a kitchen. I bet you would love to have cooking class, everyday! Maybe, mommy will let you test out her kitchen:)

  4. I wish we had hamburger cooking classes when I was in school. All we got to do we cooked were peanut brittle and cake.
What does the message in the sand art say?
