Today Sarah and I made an attempt to make a baking soda volcano in the backyard. We found a recipe on the Internet so we started the mixing. The first time we tried the volcano didn't explode when we pored in the vinegar and I think it was because we put in powdered detergent instead of liquid. The detergent was soposed to hold the bubbles in. Then we we went to the store to get some more vinegar then we made the same mixture but with liquid detergent and still it didn't explode. This time the problem was that the soda bottle we were using was to small, so we make the mixture for the third time but this time it was in the extra vinegar bottle. And ... EUREKA it finally EXPLODED.
I LEARNED: I learned that every ingredient is important when you are doing a science experiment. I also learned that if you shake the bottle with the mixture up before exploding it the explosion is bigger.
THE RECIPE TO MAKE AN EXPLODING VOLCANO
1. find a 1liter plastic bottle
2. fill it 3/4 up with WARM water
3. put 5 drops of LIQUID detergent
4. put 2 tablespoons of baking soda
5. pore the vinegar in and it'll explode
