The Summary of Greece BY SARAH

Map of our tour route in red.

Two days ago, we left Greece for Italy.  We did lots of very cool stuff during our stay in Greece.  On our tour of Greece, we stayed in Athens, Napflio, Sparta, Olympia, Delphi, Kastaraki, and Thiva (Thebes) and visited many famous sites and saw some beautiful towns and villages.

A monastery on the rocks.
My favorite part was a town next to a big city separated by lots of towering whole rocks with monasteries on top of most of them. The monasteries on top of the rocks are put on top of flat topped rocks and where they did not put the monasteries there are trees and bushes.  The city is called Kastaraki and the area is called Meteora.  It was my favorite part of the whole stay in Greece, because the rocks had tons of caves in all of the rocks that the monks use to live in instead of monasteries.  We saw one cave that had windows carved in to the walls. In one fo the monasteries, they had a net that the monks used to use to get up themselves and supplies up to the monasteries . Meteora and Kastaraki are my favorite places in Greece.

In Greece we saw lots of things and I enjoyed most of it.  We saw lots of ruins, old stadiums, new greek buildings, and old temples. My favorite old temple was the Temple of Posiedon which we saw on our last day out of Athens.  It was very relaxing to be by the sea and imagine the Temple as it must have been.  My  favorite ruin in Athens is the Parthenon, because it is mostly reconstructed.
We even saw a cool bridge that is twice the size of the Golden Gate Bridge that connects mainland Greece to the Pellepones Peninsula.  It is the longest span cable stay bridge in the world and looks very cool on the out side.  Apollo’s olive groves in front of Delphi was huge and the trees were kind of big.  That means they are really old.  I really liked Meteora, Kastaraki, and; at the end, Posiedon’s Temple, ending up in Athens to go to Italy!!!

We got to see some really cool sites and learn the history behind them. I will remember the old buildings with their columns because it seemed like they all had them.  I will remember the really blue sky in Greece because after Egypt and India, the sky in Greece was really blue.  But what I will remember the most about our visit to Greece is that it was the most like California of all the countries I've been to.

  1. Nice post, Sarah. You've seen a great deal and remember lots, as well.

Interesting that Greece reminds you of California! And California reminds me of you--that makes us even. I was driving to a friend's house in Los Osos the other day and took Foothill to get there. Anytime I go to San Luis, I'm reminded of you all--but especially this trip, as I drove down Foothill past the turn-offs to all your places.

    much love to you. bippy
