Angkor Wat by Kayley Jan.14,2012

Yesterday, my family and I went to see the biggest Temple in the world, Angkor Wat.  Angkor Wat was built for the king to pray at a long time ago. Angkor Wat is really cool place because its kind of complicated and it's really BIG.

Angkor Wat has a really wide moat around it, also there is a sand stone bridge that crosses the moat.  Once you get of the bridge there's a wall type thing. Also the wall has a passage going through it. In the passage there is a couple of statues of Buddha that people pray to. On the other side of the wall there is a pallace type building.  The building has three towers and our guide told us that the middle tower worships Visnhu the god of water and the creator.

The building has three levels for the king to pray at.The first level used to have tons of statues of Buddha.  The second level has a dark hall way that used to have tons of statues of Buddha.  The third level, Sarah and I couldn't go up to because no one under twelve is aloud to go up. Instead we stay in the court yard and sat down with all of our stuff. The guy next to Sarah and I was drawing these really good pictures of the statues that are around the Cambodian temples. Mommy told us to do our writing and that they'd take a long time,so Sarah and I didnt do our writing right away and when they came back we had bearly started. Time passes quickly when your are having fun.:)

I thought that the roofs of the towers were really cool. The towers were made of stone and looked really heavy. I'd hate to have to install it.Also there were lots of carvings and pieces that stick out on the roofs too. To add to that the roofs were also really tall and looked thick but they were really unique.

On the tuktuk ride home, daddy told us that we hade just seen one of the wonders of the world. I had no idea what so ever that Ankgor Wat was the biggest religious building in the world. I was really surprised because i thought that religious building could be bigger than that and I never thought Cambodia would have one of the wonders of the world in it.
