Finally we are getting out of New Zealand. We have spent about 5 months hear and I am tired of it. Today we are going on the next leg of our world tour; we are headed to Cairns to see the Great Barrier Reef. I want to go there because it is tropical and we get to stay at a hotel for the first night. WE have been sleeping in the car. That is not very fun. I am really excited about going and seeing one of the natural wonders of the world, but getting there I am not so happy about it.
Our trip to Cairns was a disaster, we had got on an air plane in Auckland, and 8: pm, then we flew to Melbourne, and then we had to what 6 hours in the Melbourne airport to catch our next flight to Cairns. The worst part of it was sleeping in the Melbourne airport for 6 hours on the floor. It was pretty miserable. My mom and dad were on edge and there was nothing fun to do. This was all because Jetstar had stopped flying directly to Cairns after we booked the tickets but before we used them. It made me really mad that we have to deal with them for about half of our flights on the world tour.
I was really happy to continue our world tour and see the Great Barrier Reef. But getting to Cairns was not one of the most fun experiences of this trip. I am not so happy about this world tour, but we will see some pretty amazing things on it, for instance, the Himalayas, the great Pyramids, the Taj Mahal, and the Temples in Cambodia and Bali. I am looking forward to seeing Europe and all the castles the most.
I haven't read what you've written later--after you actually saw the reef. So, I'm looking forward to learning whether or not you thought the miserable trip was worth it in the end! I sounds like a really nasty leg of your journey, though. Sorry!
